Election 2009

My country India is one of the biggest democratic country of the world. Democracy means a government of people for people by people. Under democracy, people are suppose to choose a government who will work for the development of the country and its citizens. In India, Election occurs after every five years to choose next representative of the country. Now a days, we are in the process of electing a government, which will rule our country for next five years.

Our country has a lot of social and economic problems and we are still a developing country and so the main agenda for the election should have been the basic problems of the country and its people like fooding, housing, employment opportunities, electricity, water supply etc. Apart from these problems, our country is also facing security problems because of increasing terrorism which has both national and international supports. But still the main agenda of this election are caste and religious riots, the personal life of the politicians, temple and mosque construction, which questions the very basic foundation of our constitution.

India is a sovereign socialist secular democratic country. This election questions every word described. Opposition blames government to be dependent on foreign powers which questions our sovereignty, boycott of parliament on every issue questions socialism, asking for vote on the name of religion questions secularism, booth capturing and omission of citizens from voting list questions democracy.

I will recall few incidents which reflects Election 2009.
i) Varun Gandhi's anti-muslim remarks :- Every politician of the country took that remark as an opportunity to win election by terming him as hero or villain respectively according to their need in election.
ii) Issue of delaying hanging of "Afjal guru" one of the terrorist caught for the attack on parliament and linking it "to please religions". How can delaying or not hanging a terrorist can please any religion.
iii) Karunanidhi supporting terrorist organisation (LTTE) leader Prabhakaran and terming him as a good friend but everyone was afraid of losing vote bank to go against him. Why a country like India which itself is a victim of terrorism is allowing a terrorist's friend to walk freely and contest elections??

And there are many more points which make a voter disappointed and confused while walking to caste vote in an election, I still dont know whom i want to represent us for next five years. It was sad to see that none of the political candidate for the top post of our country has guts to talk about the basic need and development of the country and its citizen. People wants vote on the name of religion-riots and even they give threat to commit sucide if they loose election. This politics is at its worst and is getting worst. I pray to god to give sense to politicians to work for the benefit of the social, economic and security concern of the country. I expect the situation to change before the next election for the benefit of country and its people.

Life at Indian Statistical Institute

Although Life is always great to me but still life at Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore (2004-2007) was among the most fruitful time of my life. In those three years of my life, I gained not only lots of techniques and skills of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science but also came to know about the diverse language and cultures of our unified country in detail. I was always proud of my country for its unity in diversity, but I became more proud of it after feeling it.
My Institute(Indian Statistical Institute) is known for Mathematics not only in India but across the Globe. It's Faculty is a small group of renowned mathematicians of the country, who works in different fields of mathematics and adds to the glory of nation by giving some wonderful results of real, applied and abstract mathematics to this world. They train us in a very rigorous way to meet the difficulties of Mathematics.
My batch was a group of 13, selected through all India entrance examination in Mathematics(3 rounds, 2 written and one mathematical interview). Most of us were from different part of country and meeting them was a pleasure to me. Our friendship and mutual understanding increased faster than time. We started learning each other's culture and life style along with Mathematics. We were always ready to help each other, not only in learning Culture and Mathematics but also in other difficulties of life. Everyone was great with great sense of humor and sportsman spirit(and of course mathematics). It was a wonderful time of My life and it will have many significances in my life.
